Redesign Civic for 2012

With the segment getting hotter day by day and Honda Civic is losing its sales. Honda has decided to upgrade its Civic with new goodies, the car looks completely different from the previous model. Honda has changed Civic from exterior as well as from interior.

Honda introduced a completely redesigned Civic in 2006, and little has changed since. Available as a four-door sedan or two-door coupe, the Civic boasts accurate steering, strong brakes, a roomy interior, and a willing suspension. The Civic’s styling—the large, fast windshield, minivan-like front end, and UFO-style two-tiered dashboard—incites a bit of controversy, as these are all love-them-or-hate-them elements.

From the front especially the headlight and the front grill resemble like Honda City. From the rear Honda has changed it completely, the tail light resembles like Mercedes C class. The car has got bulkier it feel this new Civic has gone a bit conservative – particularly in the rear, where distinctive eagle’s head tail lamps have given way to more traditional fixtures. The wheelbase has been cropped from 106.3 inches to 105.1 (you’d be hard-pressed to notice unless you had a tape measure handy), a change that helps make it the shortest car in its class.

From inside The digital speedo is flanked on the right by a crisp new five-inch Multi-Information Display (i-MID) that displays everything from stereo information to Bluetooth status and trip computer functions with pleasingly high-resolution graphics. The Civic’s center stack is canted dramatically toward the driver and dominated by the audio controls with an easy layout and Playskool-sized buttons. The head-unit is a bit odd in that it doesn’t have its own display – you have to look up and over at i-Mid for information. We got used to this after memorizing the button configuration on the stereo, but would still prefer a station/track readout on the unit itself. All other controls, including those for climate and such are a model of simplicity. The steering wheel is different with new steering wheel audio controls.

The Ex Model used to have 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 140-hp, which is available with a slick-shifting five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. We expect an engine upgrade with better performance figures and better efficiency.
