Skoda to launch 5 cars in India

As the market is heating up with new launches, with the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Ford, Chevrolet and now the parent company VolksWagen also doing good numbers. Czech auto maker Skoda is set to launch five products in the country over the next two years, to increase its presence in India.

Right now Skoda has only 4 cars in their garage Laura, Fabia, Superb, Yeti, these cars are premium cars in their segment. As Fabia is not doing good numbers and we cannot expect more from cars which are above 10lakhs, Skoda needs a car which can go hand in hand with the competition.

The 5 cars Skoda would be launching a refurbished Laura would hit the roads sometime next month, a premium mid-sized sedan named Rapid which has been developed on the Vento platform, will also have both petrol and diesel variants. It will be pitted against Maruti Suzuki SX4,

Volkswagen Vento, Honda City and Ford Fiesta models, which have established a niche for themselves in the category, would arrive by the end of the year, a smaller versions of sports utility vehicle (SUV) Yeti, in both petrol and diesel variants, and a small car tagged between Rs 3lakhs and Rs 5lakh.

Skoda sold 22,969 units in the last financial year, registering 31.24 per cent annual growth,

with the new sedan and a small car Skoda expects to double sales to over 40,000 units this year.

This a good move by Skoda as Fabia did not sell as much as they expected and for how many days Skoda will sell their cars in terms of quality? If they want to get good numbers then they have to sell a car which is between 3 to 5lakhs.
