Tuscany Feature Landscape Ride Wine and Gelato Tour on BMW F800GS

Italy is famous for its Culture, Vineyards, Landscape, Food and a lot more. My quest for Italy started in 2015 when I planned a Planned my ‘Tour de Italia’ but due to my Leh Ladakh Trip the same year I couldn’t visit Italy. So in 2016, I decided a motorcycle tour is due and what better place to have it – Tuscany!

Tuscany (or Toscana How Italians call it) is famous for its vide landscapes, Vineyards, Gelato parlours and Provinces like Pisa (where the leaning tower of Pisa is), Siena – famous for Old churches, Lucca , and the Metropolitan city of Florence (Firenze)

I was staying at the Grand Hotel Villa Medici @Florence, which is a wonderful property. On the same road is the New Tuscany Scooter Rental from where I rented a brand new BMW F800GS for the trip. They were amazing chaps and they helped with all the formalities and is one of the best places in Florence for renting high-end motorcycles such as Ducati Multistrada, Ducati Scrambler, BMW 1200GS and many more. Also they organise the amazing Tuscany tour which is a mix of on road and off road experience.

Day 1

Coming back to the trip, we took the motorcycle from them and started our ride to visit the city of Pisa. Leaning tower is roughly 90 Kms away from Florence towards the western coast of Italy. As you all know it famous of its grand landmark – The Leaning tower of Pisa. We took a slightly different route which is roughly 10 kms longer but covering the northern part of florence via Prato, Pistoia and Lucca. This route is the highway route and has 2 toll points. The route starts from the A11 highway and then in roughly 25 kms turns towards E76 Highway for 50 odd kms and then come back to A11 to reach the city of Pisa.

On our way back I didnt wanted to go back to the hotel via the same route, hence we took the route which takes us through the country roads and amazing views of Italy and going via small cities like Pontedera, then reaching San Miniato then entering Florence Province via Empoli and then Scandicci.

Day 2

The second day another amazing day where I planned to visit some of the best routes via small hilly areas of Tuscany and experience Vine and Local ice cream tasting. This route started from our hotel and we reached the province of San Gimignano in couple of hours of leisure riding. San Gimignano is a peaceful destination famous San Gimignano Cathedral. San Gimignano  comes under the province of Siena and is really beautiful.

Then I headed towards the main city Siena which was also up a hill and surrounded by amazing castles and cathedrals. post that it was time for lunch and I moved ahead to our main destination – Radda in Chianti. This place has a very famous Vinery and acres of Vineyard. we hopped on to one most famous and oldest Vinery – Montagliari. They even had red wine from 1938. Amazing taste and amazing ice cream and large olive oil reservoir. After filling my stomach it was time for me to roam around and i visited some more vineyards in Chianti region and then I started heading back to hotel.

Below is a small video of my ride. Hope you all would like it.
