When it comes to conquering the open road on a powerful adventure motorcycle, the Triumph Tiger 1200 has long been a favorite. However, its elevated seat height has been a concern for many riders. Recognizing this challenge, Triumph has introduced an innovative solution – the Active Preload Reduction feature. At the heart of this innovation is a semi-active electronically controlled Showa monoshock. This system adjusts the preload setting of the rear shock when the bike is moving at low speeds or at a standstill. As a result, the seat height is lowered, making it easier for riders to plant their feet firmly on the ground. Customizable Options:

Triumph offers the Active Preload Reduction feature on both the Rally and GT variant lines of the Tiger 1200. Depending on your preference and body type, the seat height can now be adjusted to a new range. On the GT variant line, seat height can vary between 850mm and 870mm, while the Rally line-up offers a range of 875mm to 895mm. With this innovative system, riders can further reduce seat height by up to 20mm, reaching minimum levels of 830mm and 855mm for the respective variant lines.

Tailored Comfort:

It’s important to note that the extent of seat height reduction is influenced by the combined weight of the rider, passenger, and any luggage. The maximum benefit of 20mm is achieved under specific conditions. While other motorcycles like the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 also offer similar technology, Triumph’s approach involves the rider actively engaging the system. By pressing the ‘Home’ button on the switch left cube for a second, the seat height adjustment becomes a rider-controlled operation.
