Why To Start Motorcycle Racing With TVS Racing School
I was glad to get a chance to participate in the TVS Racing School that was organized by TVS Motor Company at the Madras Motorsports Club Race Track.
TVS hinted this in their blog some time ago and now they brought this. Let me give you some history as well. TVS started motorcycle racing 35 years ago with the TVS 50. They then started a special program called Rent a bike scheme with the TVS shogun and then moving it to TVS Apache series. After that, they started with the TVS on make races and now that TVS Racing is partnered with Sherco Racing for their Dakar factory motorcycles.
For the TVS Racing school, you just need to pay a very nominal amount of Rs. 6,000 to register and Get a DOT or ECE certified, Double D-ring helmet. And what all you get:
- Full access to the MMSC race track
- Apache RTR 200 (minus all unnecessary parts that are not required for racing)
- CE certified racing suit

What else do you need?
The training session was divided into 3 parts:
- Flags and track observation
- Throttle control and no braking session
- Body position and racing lines
- Racing start and braking
We started the days by signing an indemnity form for participating in track. The orientation of our batch about the flags and the track layout. We then moved to the first drill – throttle control and no brake riding session. This session we remained on 4th gear and ride consistently.
The second part of the classroom training was about body position and racing lines. When we went back on the track, everybody was confident on the bikes. With this, we started the 3 classroom session of Racing start and braking.
There were so many more drills which the trainers taught however, you need to go to the track to practice that. So what are you waiting for?
